Sir W.G. Armstrong, Whitworth and Company Ltd.
Newcastle-upon-Tyne
Northumberland
1906-1915

Armstrong-Whitwoth is the motoring division of a Newcastle munitions and shipping combine and had previously made the Wilson-Pilcher car.

Sir William Armstrong's hydraulic machinery company merged with Sir Joseph Whitworth's company (of thread fame) near the turn of the 20th century.

The first Armstrong-Whitworth was the 28/36 of 1907, followed by 30 and 40 hp models, ending with the 30/50 in 1915.

After the Great War the company paid £420,000 to shareholders in Siddeley-Deasy to form Armstrong-Siddeley.

The photograph of the 1910 car was kindly provided by Ross G Frater of Brisbane.
