Charron-Laycock
WS Laycock Ltd.
Victoria Works
Millhouses
Sheffield
Yorkshire
1920-1926

Charron Ltd. of London imported the Charron car from France. And had acquired a controlling interest of WS Laycock of Sheffield (railway equipment manufacturers) to begin building cars in Britain.

Laycock had announced that they would be building the 3-litre Charron in 1919, but the resulting vehicle was in fact a British type light car. The Charron-Laycock was a well made, if expensive, car (they cost between £425 and £525 in 1925). It featured a side-valve four-cylinder 1460cc 10hp engine and from 1923 had a four-speed gearbox.

There is no connection with the smaller Charronette that was imported from France.
